A smaller gathering than recent but nevertheless an enjoyable lunch with friends and plenty of time to discuss the latest sporting events before sitting down to a substantial 'Cuddington' Roast Chicken with seasonal vegetables followed by Apple Crumble and Custard.

Our after-lunch talk was given by Dr Michael Nightingale who stepped in at short notice to tell us all about "The Amazing Human Body". Michael, a retired GP, explained just what special amazing features we have as humans to keep us alive.

He reminded us that apart from our ability to balance and remain upright on two feet (well most of the time) there were plenty of automated functions including oxygenation and digestion along with the protective functions of coughing, sneezing and wound healing. Our ability to renew our skin cells is usually overlooked, especially whilst dusting around the house. The face is amazing with smiles and frowns and there were plenty of those as Michael suffered from technical gremlins as the slides kept disappearing whilst he was talking about them!

Thank you Michael for an entertaining and thought provoking talk, from all the amazing bodies in your audience!
