The first task for Chairman Norman Rodda was to welcome new member Barry Griffiths with the traditional brown envelope.

We then enjoyed a Chicken Chasseur with Rich Mushroom and Tomato Sauce, Crushed Potatoes and Tender-Stem Broccoli followed by a magnificent Cookie Dough Cheesecake with Chocolate Sauce. Our Catering Secretary had several requests for this to be repeated later in the year!

After lunch Past Chairman John Goodhead gave us a fascinating talk about his home county Yorkshire.

Naturally John was keen to show us not only the magnificent countryside but also to remind us of the famous sons and daughters who have made an impact on the British life.

An eclectic mix of personalities, cricketers seem well represented but then it is an important part of Yorkshire Life! John covered a range of topics including the industrial history of Sheffield and the growth of the co-operative moments which are still an important part of the Yorkshire business community today.
At the end of his talk John thoughtfully provided samples of Pontefract Cakes and the monthly magazine The Yorkshire Dalesman, so we could continue our research into God's Own Country! Many thanks John, it was 'reyt good'
